Reproductive sterilization or “fixing” is offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays by appointment only. Your pet will need to spend the entire day with us to allow time for pre-surgical examinations and blood testing, surgery, and monitoring during the recovery period.

Each animal is given a general anesthetic and is completely asleep during the surgical procedure. Each animal will metabolize the drugs at a different rate and therefore some (especially the younger ones) will seem quite alert and bouncy after surgery and some will seem more groggy. For more information, click FORMS - anesthesia information.

Other minor elective surgical services such as: hernia repair, gastroplexy (stomach stapling), dewclaw or lump removals, retained baby teeth extractions, and minor eye surgeries MAY be available on the same day that your pet is presented for spay/neuter. Please call for availability and an estimate. A pre-surgical examination appointment may be required.

Additional fees MAY apply for obesity, pregnancy or uterine infections, female dogs in heat, males with undescended testicles, and unforeseen surgical presentations. Every reasonable attempt will be made to contact you before proceeding with the surgery.

Pick-up times are between 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. unless prior arrangements have been made for an early or late discharge.

A $50 fee will be added for unscheduled pick-ups after 5:00 p.m.

Other options available the day of surgery:

  • Pre-anesthetic blood testing is available on the scheduled day of surgery. The cost varies, depending on age and physical condition, from $45-$65. You can also save approx. $15 by coming a few days in advance to have blood drawn and sent out to our send-out lab.

  • Pain medication – your pet will receive several pain meds before and during surgery. These medications generally wear off by the following morning. Take home pain meds are available if you feel that your pet will need additional medications.

  • A lamp-shade (e-collar) collar is strongly recommended to prevent licking of the incision area.
